Nelson Mandela once famously remarked, "A winner is a dreamer who never gives up."
My early years on the beautiful twin island of Trinidad and Tobago were filled with grand aspirations. I envisioned myself on stage, adorned in elegant attire and jewelry, addressing a vast audience with a microphone. So, I'd put on my mother's clothes and precious jewelry, stand on my bed clutching a hairbrush, and passionately engage my imaginary audience, all the while hoping that my dreams would someday become reality.
My mother's dream was to migrate to the United States of America. After years of unwavering dedication and effort, her dream materialized. In the early '90s, I found myself in New York. The initial excitement and the overwhelming anticipation of my dreams unfolding quickly dissipated. It was not the utopia I had imagined; litter was scattered everywhere, graffiti adorned everything in its path, and numerous homeless individuals occupied the sidewalks. This marked the beginning of a prolonged and arduous journey. Overwhelmed by fear for my future and making choices to merely survive, led me to believe this season would never end.
My diligent efforts seemed to yield little reward; in fact, striving harder only intensified the pain. I faced failures in various aspects of my life, including my marriage. After years of struggling to hold things together out of pride, I found myself on my friend's couch with my young son. I distinctly recall gazing at my sleeping son's face and feeling an intense anger toward myself for being in this situation. Then, a friend from work extended an invitation for me to attend church, and it was there that I learned to praise God amid life's storms. For the first time, I began thanking God as if I already possessed what I longed for. Suddenly, a shift occurred that rekindled my hope. That day, I experienced my most profound breakthrough: I recognized that I am a winner, regardless of my circumstances, and I could not abandon my dreams.
Several months later, an opportunity arose for me to relocate to Delaware for a job, complete with housing and comprehensive benefits. In addition, a business venture emerged, focused on wearing and selling fashion jewelry. When my package arrived, its label read, "Your dream has arrived." I knew it was a message from God.
Today, I continue to express gratitude for what lies ahead and for all that God has already accomplished. My life is characterized by appreciation, love, and a sense of eager anticipation for the blessings and breakthroughs that lie ahead. I am committed to inspiring others never to give up on their dreams. I empower women to experience spiritual breakthroughs by nurturing a deeper, intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. Through my prayer community and resources rooted in biblical principles, I guide women on a holistic journey, enabling them to shed shame and gain clarity, so they can embrace their divine purpose and take inspired action to flourish abundantly in every facet of their lives.
Blessings!
